Wilson Island Getting Here From Gladstone

Wilson Island is accessed by complimentary boat transfer from nearby Heron Island. Transfers from Gladstone to Heron Island are additional and not included.

Wilson Island & Heron Island operate 1 hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST) all year round.

Boat Launch Service from Heron Island to Wilson Island

Launch transfers operate daily (except Christmas Day) between Heron and Wilson Islands. The transfer connects with arrivals and departures onto Heron Island. The daily departure times from Heron Island to Wilson Island are 10am and 3pm only.

In instances of extreme weather conditions, access to Wilson Island may be restricted and as a result of this, Delaware North Parks & Resorts reserves the right to suspend or postpone the launch to Wilson Island due to safety considerations. In these circumstances, alternate accommodation, activities and dining options will be arranged on Heron Island.

Getting to Gladstone

Regular flights are available from all Australian capital cities to Gladstone with Qantas.

Boat Launch Service from Gladstone to Heron Island

Arriving: The Boat Launch departs Gladstone Marina every day at 11am (except Christmas Day). The final check in is 10.30am, if not arriving off a flight. The complimentary transfer between the Airport and the Marina departs at 10am. The boat duration is 1 3/4 to 2 hours and arrives on Heron Island at approximately 2pm Island Time.

Departing: The Boat Launch departs Heron Island at approximately 2pm Island Time (1pm EST). The arrival time into Gladstone Marina is approximately 3.45pm EST and a complimentary transfer is available for immediate departure to the airport. This departure meets flights that depart Gladstone from 4:30pm onwards.

A small number of Gladstone flights arrive after 10.00am and depart before 4.30pm. If you are booked on one of these, the Heron Island Helicopter Service is your best transfer option.

Helicopter Transfers from Gladstone to Heron Island

Marvel at amazing views of the coast and the Great Barrier Reef by travelling to/from Heron Island by helicopter. Transfers are operated by HeliReef out of Gladstone Airport during daylight hours. Please note there is a luggage weight restriction of 15kg per person (preferably in a soft sided suitcase), however excess luggage can be transported free of charge on the Boat Launch or stored in lock up facilities at Gladstone airport also free of charge.
